Daoud Bacha Recipe 🍛 Easy, Healthy and Convenient For The Whole Family
Daoud Bacha is my family’s favorite meal! We have it at least once every two weeks. It’s extremely easy to make, appealing for the kids and super yummy!
The basic meatball recipe is made from minced meat but I use Kafta; And It’s usually served with rice but I alternate between brown rice or pasta as sides. Another twist, since my kid love pine nuts, I add some grilled pine nuts on top.
So here’s the written recipe and you can also watch the step by step video.
1/2 Kg Kafta (my butcher does it for me but if you are a homemade everything junkie 🙄 here’s how you make kafta: 250g ground beef, 250g ground lamb (you don’t have to mix lamb and beef, you can choose only beef r only lamb), 1 chopped onions, 5 bunch parsley, 2 tsp 7 spices, 1,5 tsp salt and 5 tsp black pepper)
ASK YOUR BUTCHER TO DO IT FOR YOU…
2 tbsp olive oil (or coconut oil)
2 Onions, chopped
2 Garlic cloves Crushed
600g diced tomatoes
1 tbsp tomato paste (optional)
1/2 bottle of tomato puree
1 Tsp salt
1/2 Tsp black pepper
Form small balls with the Kafta (bite size)
Heat the oil in a large pot. Add the chopped onions and fry until translucent. Add the crushed garlic and fry for 1 minute until fragrant then remove the fried onions and garlic and set aside.
In the same pot, add the meatballs (two batches if pot is small) and fry them until cooked. Add the onions and garlic and continue frying for 1 min.
**At this point you can add diced potatoes too! I add 2 small/medium diced potatoes.
Add the tomato paste and fry it for few seconds, add the diced tomatoes and tomato puree then mix gently.
Add salt and pepper. Cook about 20min on low heat with closed lid. (if there’s too much water, open the lid)
Serve with brown rice or multi cereal pasta on the side
